Miranda's Baby Shower

It was cold, wet, and nasty on a Saturday afternoon in Colyell, La.  But that didn't stir away guests at this Baby Shower...it sure didn't stop Cameron and I!  I have to say, Miranda's baby shower has lots of "Wow" factor up in it!  From the decorations, the food, the gifts, and the amount of guests.  I've never, ever seen so many family and friends at a baby shower before.  It was very touching to see so many people who love and adore Miranda to be there by her side for the beginning stages of motherhood.  Celebrating an upcoming birth of her first child, Caz Lea, a baby boy for that matter.  I texted Miranda the day before to make sure it was ok that I snap some photo's during the shower, and she said yes.  I captured several, and I'm sure everyone captured more, but I didn't want to over due things, so I snapped when I felt it was needed.  My daughter and I had a great time and the food was wonderful.  They even served eggrolls, that was a first for me!

I met Miranda a couple of years ago through our close friend Cody Lea.  My husband, Roy, used to work with him in Denham years ago.  Cody and Miranda were dating for awhile when Cody introduced us to her.  I have to say, my memory is getting pretty bad, but I remember first meeting Miranda and thinking to myself that they seemed so happy being together.  We laughed and cut up and then around the corner, their wedding came and went.  And then, of course, we heard the baby news and couldn't be any happier for them.  Then the news came that Miranda was in labor Tuesday, Jan. 25th at Women's Hospital.  The next news was that they had a healthy baby boy the very next day.  So Happy Birthday Caz Lea....1/26/2011...and
congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Cody Lea!

We wish you all the best :-)

My Colonial Sunrise

Colonial Cove, that's what the sign says when you turn on the road where we will reside in our new home....in about another month.  It's still so new that I have to look in my yearly planner to even tell you what my new address will be.  Now, isn't that ashame?  Actually, if you think about it, it's kinda neat in a way because it just the beginning of our "FRESH & NEW" start.  Soon, my family will be in a new home that we can say we helped to build.  And I can proudly say that I bought all the appliances, I'm really just bragging on myself a little.  Feels good though, hahaha!  Ok, back to the point of this post.

Walking out in the cold to warm up my car is about how I begin my journey to work.  This morning was a bit different, well, a different view of things.  Walking out with no coat on, running to the car, something stopped me in my tracks.  As I walked out, the sky was bright orange and pink.  It was beautiful and stunning and I quickly ran back inside to grab my trusty ole camera.  This I had to capture, and the end product was:

So if your one of those Denham Springs residences that noticed the same thing, I'm sure you thought, "WOW"!  I sure did....

Footie Tootie!

Ok, so my photo helper of the day during a recent wedding was my husband's cousin, Michelle aka "Tootie".  She is an all out hoot of a girl and so much fun to be around.  She knows her stuff and will let you know in a heart beat what she thinks.  Now, I've had the great pleasure of working along side her for a few of her wedding gigs and she assisted me at my first one.  She does everything possible to capture the best shots and is always thinking about the next one.

During the wedding, we were working like crazy making sure everyone was captured and that we didn't leave anybody out (well, that kicked me in the butt big time) and we also made sure to be at our bride and groom's side every minute of the day.  Since we were everywhere, Tootie's feet began to hurt since she made the wrong decision and wore brand new shoes to a wedding job.  Now, how crazy is that?  But, I gotta give it to her, they were some darn cute flats!  I should have gotten a snap shot of her before she removed her new shoes, but here's the after:

And this is how she spent half of the reception....shoeless!!!  LOL!!!  I just love her, with or without shoes!  And you can't help but check out the glare of the "Gold toes" too!!!  LOL!!!  Pose it sista :-)

Thanks Tootie for being such an amazing 2nd shooter that night!

Sunrise & Cameron

Since we've been building our house, we go stay at my mom's house on the weekends when we can.  My mom has a front porch and it's the best place to be in the mornings with your cup of coffee...or if it's up to Cameron, her sunflower seeds.  Here I am with my coffee, ready to sit, relax, watch the birds, and feel the sunshine on my face.  When I walk out and see my daughter with a mouth full of sunflower seeds, a blanket, and a "spit" cup for the shells.  Not really a picture moment right?  But when I see the sunlight hitting her and the porch, I think....uummm, yep, let me go grab my camera.  So I set my coffee down on the small table behind her and go back inside and get the Canon.

Now USUALLY, she's not in the picture mood, but here lately it's been all good with me snapping shots of her. So she kinda poses and little....and you'll notice she moves a bit closer to the edge of the porch to start spitting her seeds on the ground.  You can't get in between her and sunflower seeds.  I swear that girl is addicted!!

Ugly Faces :-/

Bet you can't guess who can make the ugliest face in my family?  When a camera is around us, especially my sister and I, we bring out our ugliness!  Now, don't get me wrong, I love snapping shots of beautiful images, but when it comes to me and my sister, we just plain out give it our ugly face pose.  So take a look at some of our facial expressions in some of these snapshots my husband captured this weekend.  Not to mention my husband's own "strike a pose" look.

Are you talking to me?

This food kinda tastes funny...

How big can I expand my nostrils...LOL!!!  My sister is good at this one!

Oooh girl, look at that!  Don't remember what the heck I was pointing at!

LOL!!  Everytime I look at these, I can't help but to crack the heck up!  We still act like little kids sometimes and can't help but do that when we get together.  I think it brings back memories of being young and silly.  We really can't get away with acting like this outside of our home, so now I'm letting the cat out the bag!  I can't help but to share my moments of childish play....now you better quit laughing too!!

Lola

Guess what my mom got for her birthday from her significant other?
Let me give you a hint:
It's light brown, soft, fuzzy, squirmy, adorable, and has puppy breath...

The Girl Scout SWAP meet!

If you're a Girl Scout mom, then you'll completely understand my love for this organization.  Our troop is preparing for Camp Marydale next month and this GS meeting we worked on "Swaps".  Again, if your involved in GS's then you know exactly what these things are.  If your clueless, let me fill you in.
(Scroll down)

Troop 46's version of binoculars...cute huh?  Thanks to our wonderful Troop Leader, Mrs. Susan :-)

Swap Journals

Archery targets...finished products being held by our Asst. Troop Leader, Mrs. Dee :-)

SWAPS are little memorabilia that each GS troop makes to share and trade with other troops during camp.  It's more of a token item of what girls bring, what they use, and what activity they are doing during camp time.  This swapping time gives our girls a chance to make new friends and meet other girls from different troops in our area.  Cause sitting around a camp fire all day isn't the only thing they do!  Even though some moms may enjoy that more than running around after 10 yr. olds all day.

Our Troop also has to give a "Shout-out" to our awesome leader, Mrs. Susan.  With out her organizational skills and creative talent, our troop wouldn't be as much fun.  She is a talent all her own and we all love and enjoy her leadership!!  Great job again Mrs. Susan!

Check out the date of this Girl Scout song book.

Being An All Out KID!!!

If you've ever been around a kid that's bored out of their mind....then you'll "get" this blog post!!!

Here we are, at home with nothing to do. It's still cold outside and rainy and there's not much choice but to stay home and chill out.  Well, my daughter, Cameron, decides to dress up and put her hair up in a crazy ponytail.  Plus she puts whatever she can fit in her hair, in the ponytail too!  She's like, "Mom, come see what I've got in my hair"!  So I grab my camera and start shooting my silly child as she pulls out lip gloss, nail polish, a brush, Sharpie, watch, and other random accessories.  I'm telling you, she has just about lost her mind that day, but it was so freakin hilarious, I couldn't help myself, and just kept shooting.

Here are some of her proud moments:

Oh, I forgot to mention the "Zoolander" look too!!!  LOL!!!!!!

Go Cameron, go Cameron...

Getting Her Nails "Did"!

How nice it is to be pampered sometimes huh?

It was cloudy, cold, rainy, and nothing to do!  And what pops in my little girls head?  "Can I get my nails done today"? I'm thinking, I guess so, "And mom, I'll pay for it"!  Then yes, of course you can!  What am I gonna do?  Say no when she's willing to pay for her nails herself.  So here were are, driving in the cold, got the heater in the car blowing, and looking for a place that's open on a  Sunday to get her nails done.  So we stop in at Bebe Nails on Range Ave.  As I park as close as possible to the front door, we look at each other and know that we're gonna have to run like crazy to prevent getting too wet.  So we make it in (camera all covered up by my coat) and she has already decided on what design she wants.  Green nails and hot pink zebra print!  Remember, she's only 10 yrs. old and she already has a fashion sense.  As it turned out, it looked pretty dang good.  And I managed to capture some photo's as well!

Cameron's Mini Photo Session

Here's a sample of what's to come....just randomly shot some photo's today in the cold and nasty rain.  My hands were shaking I was so cold.  Cameron knew she wanted to take some pic's, but she was still a bit "if'y" on if she really wanted to or not.  Especially since the weather wasn't the best.  But we were both good sports about it and went ahead with our so called plan of a photo shoot.  She even did it in a mini skirt...talk about freezing your legs off!

50mm....FINALLY!!!

I finally bought another lens....the Canon 50mm f/1.8!!  I've read reviews on this lens and more reviews on the 50mm f/1.2 (which costs waaaay more than I can afford right now) and there are nothing buy good, great, and wonderful tutorials.  I'm glad I got my 1st 50mm before my wedding this weekend.  Can't wait to try this baby out on my bride and groom.

So, once I got it out the box, I went outside and started shooting....and shooting....and shooting!!  Captured photo's of my father-in-law's car (see next posting) and other misc. things and here they are:

My hubby...chillin' outside.

My daughter...and this was taken with no lights on, only my flash w/bouncer!

Mr. Roy's tractor

Mrs. Shirley's bird feeder....I'm telling you, anything that stood still I was shooting!!

The bell ringer too!  It's a side boom...I think I have that right...it's pipeliner lingo.

HAPPY TUESDAY!
